Sourdough Invasion
Thu Jan 29 2004

The sun came out.

But I think it was too late.

I have a terminal case of winter blues.

Although there was one bright spot. I picked up Fellowship of the Ring at the library and read the forward that was written by Tolkein about 10 years after the first publication. Just reading about his writing process makes me respect him. It might seem odd to read the books after seeing the movies, that will be a first for me. But I am hoping to learn some things about great storytelling from reading this book.

I have a ball of sourdough rising on my counter. I better go bake it before it takes over the kitchen.

Makes my mouth water, I carried water for my Aunt Hazel and my reward was fresh sclice of warm bread with real butter topped with Brown sugar that she popped in the wood stove till it glazed. Ahaaaaa I can still taste and smell it.

You know I'm not a domesticated person, but when I read about sourdough rising, I kinda wish I were.

I couldn't access DD last night so I'm trying to catch up with my notify list. It seems to be ok now.

You WOULD have to mention food.

    Take care....Luv, ME

Tolkien was amazing. I personally didn't like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I couldn't get over how much work had to go into that.

Have you ever read the Hobbit? I thought that was a really good read.

i wish now that id waited until after seeing all 3 movies before reading the books, at least i wouldn't have known what was coming. kinda ruins the suspense somewhat when you do know

It's rather a shame that every time you read about Legolas you'll visualize Orlando Bloom, but I suspect you'll be able to get past that once you get into the books!

Oh you will love the books! If your anything like me you'll be enthralled then dismayed anmd sit thinking to yourself for a while after how did he do that?! I think you made the right call on watching the films first.

I know when I tried to read the books the first time that I was mightily confused by the elvish names and characters so watching the film helps give a visual image to the places and people.

    Enjoy
