Friendship Charms
Mon Mar 26 2012

Some time ago our very own Salamander sent me some of her hand made glass beads. I hoarded them for quite a while. Like a dragon.  :-) I finally realized that I needed help in creating something with them that I could use on my felted bags. I may be able to crank out felted bags with my eyes closed, but stringing beads in an aesthetically pleasing manner is not one of my strong points. Then I remembered I have a bead stringing genius among my friends. Salamander's genius beads promptly made a trip to Alaska, where my other genius friend used some of them to make charms to hang from my bags. She mailed them back to me. (Those beads have a lot of miles on them.) Why now that you mention it, yes they do. So Salamander, do you recognize any of your beads?? Eh? Eh? Click to enbiggen. This group is only a small sample of the many charms that my Alaska friend made up for me. I'm rich! I feel like I have pirate booty! And besides that... I have the coolest friends. EVER.

How cool! I'm jealous! I love little hand-crafted items like that. Speaking of which... Remember the three little coin purses you sent me? Well, I gave two of them away and kept the one with the zipper for myself. Well, Jethro is just fascinated with all of the felted wool items that you've sent me. I've had to take both the little bag and the little coin purse away from him numerous times. Well, he chewed the zipper on the coin purse when he got hold of it about six months ago and popped one of the teeth out of alignment and it only zipped part of the way after that. I tried to repair it, to no avail. Then, the other day Kendall said, "What's Jethro got now?" and I looked and he had the little coin purse again. I took it away from him, telling him that he knows he's not allowed to play with that. I just knew that he'd ruined the zipper completely this time. But you know what? He FIXED IT! Somehow he managed to chew just the right spot to pop the little zipper tooth back into place and the zipper works all the way across again! Who'da thunk it?

Those are beautiful. And what a great adventure these beads have had....... I think they have traveled more than I have in the last ten years combined. I think you should make yourself a special bag for showing them off........those lovely little clasps would make it so easy to change them; handbag jewelry for every occasion. :)

It's weird seeing my beads on the web like that. They are vastly improved by the attention of your obviously talented friend. Fishy in particular looks much happier now that he has compatible beads to keep him company.
