From Me To Somebody Else Somewhere
Wed Dec 22 2010

Oh happy day!

Dancing Star is the lucky winner of the Fairly Odd Pouch!

Congratulations!

I like this game. I really do. I have emptied one container and we will proceed to the next one soon.

This whole give away idea is fitting quite nicely into what is turning into a new level of 'pass-it-on-itis' that I am experiencing of late. I have three garbage bags full of stuff going to Goodwill as soon as I can get myself and Suzie Cube over there.

I'm putting the hairy eyeball on things in cubbyholes and drawers, closets and shelves everywhere. It's the second wave of a larger purge that happened over the summer and fall. It seems like the more refined my idea of what it is I need to have around, the clearer my head becomes. I can breathe better. I even got rid of 10! binders full of printed out DD entries. I stopped printing them out a few years ago, and they were taking up so much space. I used to worry that something would happen and all this would be lost forever. But you know, I decided that God is in charge of the archives. The ones that really count. So off to the recycle bin in the sky they went. Bon Voyage!

I made a call on my local used book store yesterday and found out they will take some of my excess Judaica, no problem. I think I have about 25 or so books to take over there soon. I'm keeping the cream of the crop, and my reference books.

It's time someone else had access to some of these books. I think they will do more good out there in circulation instead of here on my shelves. If I haven't opened some of them in 12 years, I don't think they are really that dear to my heart now are they?? There are some of them though that I re-read quite often. A few that I have sewn cloth covers for. These will stay by me.

Okay, off I go. There's knitting to be done.

Huzzah!

Sigh.
Isn't she a dear, dear thing?
I'm so proud.
Sniff.

(Oh gawd.... pull yourself together Red.)

Don't give away the
How and Why books!
I want the How and Why books!
Promise??

I promise.

    Hooray for Dancing Star!

I have quite a few books that need to be released to the wild myself. Maybe I'll work up the ambition to do something about it after the holidays.

Congrats to the winner, Dancing Star! Enjoy the pouch!

You know you can sell your excess books on Amazon, or if you'd prefer to just let them go in the wild there is always Book Passages. (I think that's what it's called.) Every time you go out you take a book or two to leave in a random place (restaurant, a bench in the park or mall, the hair salon, or anywhere really,) into which you've pasted a label that lets people know they can take the book if they want to read it and explains the program and philosophy behind it. It's a cool thing to do, I think. Good luck with the lightening of your load of possessions.
