Willow Weaving

I saw these drawings in Organic Gardening quite a while ago. I even cut out the pictures and kept them for a while. They stirred my imagination...
The other day I cut a handful of willows that I ran across while out driving. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, I just wanted them. They have been in a bundle on the back porch for a week. Then I ran across those drawings again. A friend posted them online. Aha! Says I.
Here's my rather delicate version of one of them...
I'm not sure I got it exactly right, but it was fun attempting it. I had to anchor it to the house with a little hook, otherwise it would not be very sturdy. Now I'm wondering what this would be like with some really hefty willow branches or other tree branches. Anyway, I'm glad I gave it a go.

I think it is fabulous!
I've always wanted to try something like this.
I've seen Martha S. do this kind of thing in her gardens.
Love it!
