What Is That Wonderful Aroma?
Fri Oct 10 2008

Our house is redolent of apples and spices this afternoon.

The smell of it fairly sets one into a olfactory trance.

I used my neighbor's apple peeler/corer [Thank you D!] and Hub man and I filled up two dehydrators and the crock pot with apples. The crock pot is working its magic. Apple butter is on the way.

The wind is howling today. Seems like it is coming straight from Alaska. It was lovely sleeping weather last night because of it. Well, at least till next year... I think the temperatures dropped about 20 degrees in one day. Here's hoping the heat has been vanquished for good.

Last week I signed up for a drawing class at the Senior Center near me. I really like the teacher. He's a man who is probably in his seventies. He is cheerful and has a quirky little Polish type accent. I showed him some of my drawings and even though he declared me not a beginner, but started me out with three other people who were beginners. I'm okay with that. What I needed was a reason to draw. And having assignments each week will take care of my laziness! I'm looking forward to learning new things. And just plain drawing. I needed a little push. ;-)

In other news...

We just filled out our mail-in ballots.

Thank goodness there are no more chads.

Boy wouldn't you like to have a crystal ball right now?

I'm fairly sure that all of the crystal balls are in hiding, fearing for their very lives.....

I've never smelled it cooking, but judging by the taste I had a while back, I'd imagine it's almost more than one can bear not to be tasting it every few minutes!

I think it would be nice to post a link to your apple butter instructions from a couple of years ago, too.

Well, you've started something... can you smell my apples simmering?

What a great idea for a beautiful fall day on Thanksgiving weekend. See, I know I check in with you for a good reason. Thank you.
