Daylight Savings Fruit
Mon Jul 25 2005

I read the other day that the government voted to extend daylight savings time another 30 days. They say it will conserve energy and make it possible for us to do more things after work before it gets dark.

The concept of daylight savings has always been an odd one to me.

The sun and the earth do their majestic dance as they always have, but we think that we are pulling a fast one on that whole system by fiddling with our clocks, (and our biorhythms). Silly humans. Goofy bi-peds. Doltish Homo Sapiens.

I'm half way through Harry Potter. I like this book better than the last one, I can say that much. I do find that I have a bit of a hard time sitting still for long enough stretches to get on with it. I am constantly thinking of reasons to pop up and do some silly little thing. Part of it is I can't seem to get comfortable anywhere lately. I don't have a clue what that's all about. But it is impeding my progress with the book.

I have a little list of things that need fetching from the store. Junior Mints are at the top of the list. Must go to Wal-Mart. I'm also on the lookout for a large serving bowl to put fruit in. Right now there are three small bowls on the kitchen table with plums, bananas and a peach, plus a handful of ripe tomatoes for good measure. I want to consolidate. The only big bowls I have right now are stainless steel mixing bowls which do not make very pleasing fruit containers.

So off I go before it gets too hot around here.

If I find a pretty one, I'll take a picture for you.

Until then:

"Pssst... Don't tell her I said so,
But it might not be a good idea
to put all her fruit
in one bowl. That's what my
mother always told me about
my eggs you know."

    No spoilers, I promise!

#1 finished the book on our drive yesterday, and #2 finished it a few days ago. We still can't talk about it openly because #3 hasn't read it yet. I'm eager for him to get through it quickly so we can all talk openly about our theories, speculation and feelings on how it went.

Let me knwo what you think of it when you are done.

Daylight savings to me is like cutting off the top of the skirt and sewing it onto the hem to make the skirt longer.

    Does that make sense?

Arizona doesn't think so, and there are a couple other states that don't think so.

You have some gourds that are just waiting for you to do something with them. Any chance would could be converted to a fruit bowl?

    Shalom

I marvel at the audacity and arrogance of man over a whole host of things.

"Silly humans..." YEP! Good thing God has a sense of humor.

I am really glad we don't have daylight saving here, but a lot of people want it. Makes no sense to me. ;-)
