Of Flower Cages and Glowing Pens
Mon May 05 2025

So, glad the gloom has passed through.

Just in time too, because I had things to DO.

I've been digging garden beds and mowing grass and after a trip to the nursery, planting flowers and herbs most of the day. I am DONE! Whew!

I planted all the pots I collected from the yard and put them in this cage in the old dog pen. I look out on this area from my living room window, and I wanted to have something growing there. But over the years, even though I thought I had the fence secure, the deer have decimated plants in a few minutes in the middle of the night. One time in particular was very painful as the plants were at their peak.

Well, this time I even put fence panels on top of this area. It looks a little bit ridiculous, but I'm willing to put up with it, to have some flowers to enjoy.

I think I mentioned before that on the fencing closest to us, there is bird netting so they can't put their noses through the fence. You can't really see that netting, which is great for being able to see the flowers.

In other news, a new pen came in the mail two days ago. It's a Pilot Metropolitan Pop pen in green. This pen comes with three nib sizes and now I have all of them. I know this picture looks a little overblown in color, but trust me. That's what they look like in person!

After my Sailor 'Spring Rain' pen, these are my favorites. They write perfectly, look beautiful, and [in the grand scheme of the fountain pen world] are VERY reasonably priced. So, for now, I think I have all the pens and all the inks that I need. I'm going to focus on using them instead of acquiring any more. That's my goal for the time being. Bli Neder. [Without a vow]

Okay, somebody needs to put me to bed. I'm falling asleep over the keyboard...
