Moss Magic

The air is heavy with humidity. The forecast is for thunder. We shall see...

I moved the fairy garden closer to the front door and tucked into the shade a bit more to keep it in conditions more amenable to the moss. I am delighted to report that the little fruiting bodies that had given off spores over the last few months, have yielded some new growth. They start out very tiny. I think I have two different kinds growing. I'd like to have more, but we'll see what happens.

There are grasses and clover growing in the moss from bits that I transplanted at the beginning. I am loathe to do anything about it right now. I may take some scissors and 'mow' them after a while. But for now I kind of like them. There was one flowering weed that has orange flowers that was growing in there. I was looking forward to watching that bloom. But a deer ate it last night.

Have I mentioned my dislike of deer in my yard?

(Too many times. It's annoying. Get over it.)

Easy for you to say. Punctuation marks don't have gardens. You don't know what you are talking about.

Anyway, I pushed my phone to its limits to TRY to get some pictures of the tiny, tiny world that is developing in this planter.

I have never had the chance to see moss propagation before. I'd like to find some other varieties to add. I'll be on the lookout at the nurseries.

It is a whole different (and beautiful) world when you take a look at it in zoom mode. Lovely pictures!
