The heat presses down on my head already and it's only 9 in the morning. I looked out at the back yard that I wandered around watering at 8:30 last night. I was hoping to bolster the defenses of my poor plants against the onslaught today. So far they seem to be holding up. I gazed into the clear blue sky wondering where the Thunderstorm Fairy is keeping herself these days, because we sure could use a break from this summer inferno.
I don't know what it is about our corner of the world, that it gets nary a drop of rain most years from June to November, but seems to me that a modicum of rain in the summer months would not upset the entire balance of weather powers all that much.
Okay, a deluge or two or three is what I'm really talking about, I'll be honest.
Alas, the chances of that happening are pretty darn thin I know. But it HAS happened from time to time.
So here's the deal. I'm putting in a work order to the Thunderstorm Fairy. I know she's really busy this time of year in the midwest and so forth, but a little trip out west might be a nice break for her. She could stop over and get Arnold's autograph or something while she's here. I would also throw in a fresh batch of homebaked cookies of her choice. Just so long as she leaves the lightning in her van when she comes to pick them up.
Consider my work order officially sent off by next day heat wave to Iowa.
(I have WITNESSED thunderstorms in Iowa. Very impressive work let me tell you.)
