Imagine picture of completed crazy socks......

HERE

It is a testament to my self-control, maturity, and newly found sense of what I shall now refer to as 'knitting integrity', that when I discovered that my COMPLETED second sock had a major flaw in it.... [take a breath to complete this run on sentence] that I took the scissors and cut off the toe and frogged it back to just passed the heel turn and started over on the section where I forgot to 'knit one round even after every decrease round'.

Gasp for air.

This gives me even more of a reason to pursue my new strategy for knitting socks. I nipped out the other day and bought a second pair of circular needles and henceforth will work my pairs of socks simultaneously. A section of one, then a section of the other so that when I'm finished, I have a PAIR of socks. Not ONE sock and have to start all over again on the second one, having forgotten all the little things that I had to pay attention to so as to get the pattern right the first time.

If you want to call this disorder, OCK, feel free.

Funny that. The acronym for "Obsessive Compulsive Knitting" rhymes with 'sock'.

If the Knitting Fairy will look over my shoulder today, I hope to finish my goofed up sock and post a picture of the pair tomorrow.

If she is otherwise engaged, well, I don't know what will happen.

[My maturity, self-control and knitting integrity DOES have limits.]

Why not just call it SOCK and be done with it (Sadistic Obsessive-Compulsive Knitting)!

RYC: "Sane" is a relative term. ;)

I'll reserve comment until I see the PAIR.

I don't know why you would call it a disorder...it seems perfectly sensible and orderly to me.

    RYC:
The comments today don't count. They were too little too late wimpy I don't really want to do this but am being forced to comments that were not worth the hot air they generated. Not to mention that Rangle said almost the same things about Bush last year so his remarks today just make him a look like the fool he is.

    Gasp...

Good idea on knitting the pair at the same time. You are a genius.
    Hugs!

Dare I mention the double knit socks article at Knitty? http://tinyurl.com/gfdoj Go read it, I'll wait. I will confess to being thoroughly confused and flummoxed by the time I got to the halfway point, but golly gee it sure sounds cool!

    Sock OCK, how funny!! ;o)

Aha, my mum just did this same thing with some gloves she made. That is the working one section on one glove and then repeating it on the other. She was working from a pattern that had a portion missing, so wanted to make sure she didn't get it wrong. Very cool that you're getting to that stage with your knitting. ;-)
