Hot Water Bottle
Sat Jan 31 2004

After all my troubles yesterday, I shamed the computer into submission and got my project finished. Thank goodness.

Hey you know what else I did? I went into the control panel and under display and “appearance” changed the background color of all the applications that have a text box. The title of that is “window”. So right now in Word, I have a lovely pale lavender background to work with. It’s very soothing. I had changed all the other things in there but never clicked on the window color before. I like it !

I might be getting all excited about something lots of you have figured out a long time ago, but it’s new to ME!

It rained today, and looks like it might do it again soon. My feet are in a permafrost state it seems. “Tundra Toes” ! But never fear! Today I bought an old-fashioned, low tech, hot water bottle to put in the bed and warm my feet with.

I used to have one a few years ago, until one night I got over-enthusiastic about the HOT water and plopped it in the bed and came back about half an hour later and found that I had melted a hole in it, and the mattress was soaked. (We slept on the couch that night)…. Ever since I have been paranoid. But I am tired of cold feet in bed so I promised myself to be very careful about the temperature of the water in the thing from now on.

Not much else to report today. My scintillating entry gene must be taking a nap somewhere.

(I wonder if she has her hot water bottle at her feet?)

I am still thinking over the 3 books that really influenced my life Billy T.
And believe me, that is a hard thing for an Aquarian INTJ to narrow down!!! Thank you SO MUCH for bringing it up !

Ahhhhhhhh!

The warm bottle works nicely- have done so myself. I love good books and I agree, trying to narrow down to a few 'favorites' is nigh impossible.

When I was in rehab there were these little air activated heat pads for socks in the convenience store. They worked the whole night. A buck a pair I loved them. Toasti-toes.

1: "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeline L'Engle
2: "The Diamond in the Window" by Jane Langton
3: "The Phantom Tollbooth" by Norton Juster

I didn't even really have to think about it. Hmm... Guess it's not hard to see where my head is most of the time.

R also has trouble with Tundra Toes. We've tried fuzzy socks, fleecy slippers, microwavable slippers, heating pad... I can't get her to try the water bottle; she's paranoid also about it leaking. The only thing that works is for me to rub her feet. Another hmmm.

I love a hot water bottle in winter. Hope you remember to put some cool water in first, though, this time. I changed all the colours on my screen to suit myself one time, but hubby came along and changed it all back. frustrating. ;-)

In the absence of a hot water bottle, socks help. But I still prefer the electric heating pad.

    Oh, yes, and flannel sheets.
