Of Ponds And Plants
Sun May 14 2006

The other evening, I took this picture out where we take Sunny to run around. I think this pond will dry up completely by the end of summer. We shall see about that. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know. This year we had so much rain that it might last into the next rainy season, you never know.

We are going to plant a new tree in our backyard for some more privacy and shade. I can hardly wait to go look at what they have at the nursery. I am partial to maples myself, but a nice scarlet oak would be good too. Any excuse to plant a tree is a happy occasion.

I'm thinking about finding one of those perenial morning glories to plant at the end of the front porch too. My next door neighbor has one that is really pretty. Though when I ran across this picture of them, it sort of gave me pause.

I don't think we have the proper conditions for THAT to happen though.
Wow. Needless to say I'll keep an eye on it just in case.

Morning glories can be invasive, unless you keep them contained. The have such pretty flowers.

    Nice pictures. :o)

Oh yes Morning Glories are a treat but in ARK. they grew so fast you had to darn near prune daily. A Oak is very slow growing I would think a Pecan would be pretty and bear really quickly
I always wanted a Hazelnut but they were hard to find.

OH what joy to plant a tree! I love maples too. I think they have a nice shape and branches. My very favorite tree is a Beech Tree though. What a nice place that is to take Sunny.

You might try going here to help find the right tree for your yard (if it isn't too late...).

Personally I've always wanted a Chestnut, but have never had a place big enough to put one. A Golden Raintree is another I'd like to have some day.

I hope it doesn't get too dry. It's been that way here. Let us know how things go. ;-)
