Pass Me That Hankie Will Ya?
Mon Aug 13 2007

Yesterday, Jo Jo's new owner came to pick him up. She brought her little female Sheltie with her. Jo Jo LIKES her. She is quite a bit smaller than he is actually which makes them a really cute pair.

I feel the oddest combination of happiness that he has a good home with a wonderful doggie friend, and sadness that he wasn't here this morning to greet me with his precious little white paws on the edge of the bed, right above which was his nose wanting a pat.

That's an awkward sentence I know, but I have a lump in my throat and it is cutting off the blood supply to my brain right now.

I am going to miss him like crazy.

But after meeting his new owner, I am very confident he will be even happier with her. And this is what I signed on for isn't it? To take them in, help them work on their issues and send them off into the world again. Right?

Right?

Now about those peaches.
Shouldn't we be canning ?"

Sigh.

There's no rest for the weary around here.

I think *I* need a doggie cookie right now.

Fare Thee Well Jo Jo!

I feel the empty space for it is so hard to fill that space. Sunny will be sad also for dogs bond like people.

You did a good thing, best wishes to Jo-jo. Now dry those tears and get those luscious peaches dealt with!

This is why I have so much respect for people who foster-care, whether it's children or pets - you get them at their worst, and just when you're starting to turn them around, you have to give them back before you get a chance to enjoy the good stuff. Anyone who can cope with that is a very special human being.

Oh, so sweet! Maybe you can get visitation rights, if you wanted them? Just think of how happy you've made the family though, that's wonderful!

Oh, that is sad, yet I suppose it's what you have to expect. It's like a scaled down version of kids, I suppose. Feeling for you. Hugs from over here in Australia. ;-)
