Of Grit and Gravity

I drove up on the mountain to bring home some buckets of granite sand for the chickens. They need it for their gizzards When I got out of my car, I noticed this rather non-descript mushroom...one of many in the Mushroom Identifier that falls into an unnamed broad category called... 'Little Brown Mushrooms'. DSCN5789   When I got a closer look at it however, it began to look like it was made out of brown satin. So I took a picture of it. When I got home and gave the girls their nice new grit, I decided it was a good day to balance a few rocks. It sounds simple enough. But the gravity fairy was not being kind to me. As a matter of fact she had a downright nasty 'tude. Only thing is, my stubborn as a mule streak kicked in and I wasn't going to give up. This balance took me a solid 30 minutes to complete. DSCN5791 DSCN5799 I think I need some new rocks. Perhaps another field trip is in order. (I believe you can find quite a collection, very near at hand.) Oh yeah?  Where? (Between your ears.) I can't believe I fell for that. (It comes as no surprise to me whatsoever.)   lime-wild

I love the texture of mushrooms when you look closely at them - they can be so beautiful.

Do the sculptures stay up, or does the wind/weather knock them down?
