Knitting In Public
Mon Sep 25 2006

Yesterday I found my way to a community fun fair, because I had been invited by one of our knitting guild members to "Knit In Public". During the time I was there, we had five ladies knitting. If I had been a little more on the ball, I would have five pictures of projects, but two of the ladies went off in search of food before I got my camera out.

This is a hat that is being knitted for a preemie baby.

This is a wonderful sweater being knitted I think for an orphanage in some foreign land.

And my tote bag to be felted. Looks like the Cat In The Hat right now don't it?

Well, after I left the knitting group, I headed out to get supplies to make my own day planner. It's all Aeolian Solo's fault. He wrote about it in his diary and gave this link...Day Planner. I was a gonner as soon as I saw it. I also got forms from this site: Organized Home.

I stayed up too late last night printing out forms and templates until my eyes crossed.

I decided I needed something larger, so I printed them up in letter size and I am going to nip over to Staples and have them bound. I asked about it the other day and it's cheap. I almost bought a Flavia refill for my old planner, but I feel like I need more ROOM to write, and as it is I have my old day planner AND a huge spiral notebook on the counter and I end up using both of them. This way, I will put my other one in a drawer and just work with this new one.

It's self defence really. If I don't write stuff down, it just floats away into space. And I have never seen a day planner that had everything in it that I wanted.

I admit that printing out your own dayplanner is rather high on the control freak scale. I put it down to keeping company with rather extreme types.

(What is THAT supposed to mean there cupcake?)

no one asked ME
to come along and
knit in public.
What the BUK! is up with that?"

I want to see this Day Planner of yours.

I can't quite see how that's going to end up a hat for a preemie. I like the colors. Just plain old white ones when Rowena was born.

Whoever gets that sweater is going to be mighty pleased.

Between you and ImnotLisa, I get the urge to take up knitting again. So far, my fingers haven't quite gotten the program. Oh, well. Knitting would take up some reading time. So I think I'll stick to crochet. What little I do.

    Shalom

Have you looked into getting one of those inserts for sliding doors that has a pet door in it?

I'm considering putting one of these in our back door to help avoid what I call the "In and Out Game" that Stormy seems to like to play.

I bought the TightWad Gazette Vol. I & II years ago and love them. I never thought of the notebook idea. Might have to look into that when I move. Wouldn't CR be impressed, being a past grocery man! :o)

Good on you for knitting in public. Well, at least making your own day planner gives you the kind of control you want. ;-)
