A certain friend sent me a packet of the New Tomoe River paper in the mail the other day. I had fun comparing it to the original and decided the differences were very small, but still noticeable.
I feel like a dragon sitting on my small hoard of irreplaceable paper now.
So what did I do?
I decided the best way to honor some of it was to make a booklet out of it and USE it!
This paper is very thin only 52 gsm. What is gsm? It's grams per square meter. So, in this sewn booklet, I could get 42 sheets in one signature to make the booklet.
I had to run down to the second-hand store today to get some scrapbook paper to make the cover. I found this:
Not exactly matching the season, but hey, it will be Spring again soon!
Now I can do all kinds of ink testing or whatever else I want to do on my 'gold standard' paper for fountain pens. And what's funny is, I was using this paper to do some of my eco dying projects. I have a whole sheaf of them in a box in the Room of Requirement. I may have to get those out and put some in this little notebook as decoration. Reunite the tribe so to speak. I'll look through them tomorrow and see what I can find.
