In Which You Have To Read Something Totally Different Than You Might Have
Wed Apr 29 2009

I hope I have learned my lesson.

I lost another entry. My internet connection was interrupted just as I pushed 'the button'.

You could have read a scintillating post about gardens and dogs and knitting.

But alas, it was not to be.

How have I learned my lesson? I am composing this in Notepad.

Rats.

To soothe my rattled blogger's nerves, I'm listening to http://www.pandora.com/.
In case you are interested, I'm listening to the 'Enigma' station.
It's keeping me from throwing the modem across the room and giving up blogging forever.
I suppose that's something.

In the other entry, [the one no one will ever read....]

(God is merciful.)

I was talking a bit about needing some inspiration for creative endeavors. Wondering where to look.
I mentioned I was open to suggestions.

Within reason.

( ) had something to say about that...

What was it ( )?

(I SAID that we had abandoned all reason about four months back and that you should try to keep UP!)

Oh yeah, I remember now.

Anyway, I have a question for you my gentle and not so gentle readers.

What is inspiring you right now?

Book?
Music?
Art?
Concept?
Project?
Color?
Shape?
Pursuit?

Fire away. I'm all ears.

(Actually you are all keyboard fingers and mouth. Keep it real.)

You are such a dill weed.

(Never touch the stuff.)

Right now I am inspired by the Bible to make felted book bags for my prayer group with Old Testament themes.
    It was a God idea.
    What can I say?
So actually I guess you could say I am being inspired by God.
    Now there's a concept.

    Dierdre Long.

I'm inspired to live a long and healthy life so that she will remember me when I finally answer the Summons.

I think I have a couple things in my various saved files that might be inspiring.

Grandkids took me on a trip from Santa Rosa to Bodega Bay and points in between. I was glorying in the trees reaching to the heavens. The umpteen shades of green, the blue skies, the forested mountains, the powerful wind at the Bay, and the birds flying and hovering in that wind. The tide coming in and smashing against the rock formations in the bay, and the spray splashing up over the rocks.

It would have been totally wonderful if it hadn't been so dang cold!!!

    Bless

I've taken my inspiration in the form of puppy breath. I think you have too many 4 legged critters in your house as it is, so that probably isn't an option for you.

Any Farmers Markets in your neck of the woods?

What inspires me right now? The planting of all things living. Flowers, fruits, veggies. Getting my hands into the warm soil and providing a sustainable environment for things that will, in the long run sustain ME.

Another inspiration is what I read. Fiction, non-fiction, doesn't matter. Right now I'm reading 'Savage Garden' by Mark Mill. It's compelling in the same way that Elizabeth Kostovs's 'The Historian' was. The build up is probably more entriguing than the works themselves.

Gotta go. I'm working on stir fry for dinner

Isn't Murphy's WONDERFUL? I've always used it on our short hair dogs, never had a chance on a dog with a longer coat and I wondered if it would do well or weigh the coat down.

Jakey smells Murphylicious and has forgiven us now we have given him a woobie to carry around and a bone to chew on.

Spring in the garden - new life of the plants and a sea of vibrant color. Planting, pruning, weeding. The sound of the water fountains cleaned and running once again now that spring is here. Reading, always reading. Lately The Laws of Harmony, The Shack and The Friday Night Knitting Club. Meyer Lemons from my garden have brought creativity into my kitchen; sorbet was last creation. Planning a summer party brings me anticipation of things to come. Art Guild Luncheon and silent auction; so many awesome things to inspire creativity. Sun always makes me feel energetic and incredibly alive. Of course I doubt there is anything here that will give you inspiration. God is good. Life is good.

Inspiration. I think, at the moment, I take it from juxtaposing two random words together and finding a meaning I never thought of before. Daydreaming is good for that.
