It's that time of year again. The return of some old friends. One of which is the Feverfew which freely reseeds itself each year, along with the main plants lasting 2 or 3 years before they call it quits. I just love the masses of flowers it produces.

They hardly seem real there are so many of them!

And, I should mention, hardy. These pictures were taken the day after our thunderstorm that dropped and inch and a half of rain on them. Fearless Feverfew!

The following is a photo of my entire pea harvest this year. The plants grew up, flowered, set peas, and stopped growing. I have no idea why they decided to do that. I used to get two or three pickings from my plants. I'm grateful to have gotten SOME. But kinda sad too. I froze these because I am hoping to eat them creamed with some new potatoes from the garden when I feel they are mature enough that I can dig up one plant. It's a dish I love to eat at least once a year.

Even though it's such a small amount, I'm always so grateful to know where these peas came from and how they have been grown. From seed to table, they have been under my supervision. I wish I could say that about more of the foods I eat.

Back in the day when the kids were at home, we had a HUGE garden and filled our pantry and freezer with a lot of produce. My garden now, since the whole square footage is not under cultivation, cuts way back on what's possible to grow.

But I'll take these little wins. It's hard to stop being a gardener. It gets in your blood after so many years.

Next will be potatoes, God willing.
