S. and I decided to walk up the mountain a ways yesterday and take a look at the creek after all the rain we have had. You can hear it raging when the wind is right, from my front yard.
On the way we spotted this pretty sight... she says these are conks growing on this old stump.
The creek is being fed by probably dozens of places like this, that are normally dry;
Here's the water pouring out of the culvert on the other side of the road into the creek...
Do that enough times and you get this...
And this...
We kept walking up the road to the waterworks. Our town gets its water from this creek. I had to take a picture of the moss on this tree that is obviously ecstatic about the recent weather conditions...
Then we came to the dam where the city water is collected. There's a fish ladder there to help any salmon that might make it this far, to get over the dam. It was rather impressive ... AND noisy!
I'm glad we got to see it right then, as in a few weeks and months, it will be back to its usual well mannered self. But for now, it's flowing on the wild side. :-)
