Samuel Clemens and The Little Red Hen Jump The Shark
Mon Jan 10 2005

For the last few weeks I have had the feeling that my diary has Jumped The Shark when I wasn't looking.

I seemed to have confirmed my suspicions when last week, I made myself a little list of things to include on here for different days of the week. Today is Little Red Hen Society day. Yesterday was a recipe day. . . etc.

Are these just impulses to spice this place up a bit, or are they last ditch efforts to find inspiration and keep afloat a diary that as of today has.... wait a minute, let me go check..... oh here it is.... 645 entries?

So my question is this: Nu? Who can be brilliant virtually every day after 645 journal, diary, blog entries? You know what? I'll bet even Mark Twain would have a few off days if he was writing a diary online.

I can just see it....

"Hey everyone, Sammy here. I feel very grumpy today. My wife wants me to stop smoking so many cigars and cut back on my whiskey consumption. I told her in no uncertain terms that no civilized man I am aquainted with would do either of these outrageous things willingly. Which has had the negative effect of making me persona non grata in her boudoir. I don't know whether to be delighted or desolate at this turn of events. I'm going to have to get back to you on it. In the meantime, and until I regain my composure, here is my recipe for Rum Punch....."

Now I don't feel so bad really. If it can happen to one of my heroes, it can happen to me. . . in the meantime, here are a few words of wisdom from the Little Red Hen:

Thinking about doing something, sometimes takes longer than doing it.
My advice is to just do it.

I guess that's your lot.

Hoping for better things on the morrow.

(What about that Rum Punch recipe.......?!)

Don't feel bad, my friend, I have only written about 130 entries and have been feeling the same way. I seriously considered having a joke day where everyone had to tell me a joke instead of me having to find a joke to tell. I still may come to think of it. LOL

Quilty Hen agrees whole heartedly with Little Red Hen on today's words of wisdom.

Well, if you don't come up with the Rum Punch recipe, maybe you'd like my chocolate rum cake recipe.

There's no way your online diary has jumped the shark. Surely I'm closer to it than you are, anyway. I've just hit my 1575th entry. ;-)

Well Sammuel and I have a few things in common.
I like my Vodka tonic toddy and I use Smokeless SKOAL,now the day would be a mess otherwise.
I also give a lot of thought about clearing by shovel the 22" wet snow on the 12X65' back deck. I have kept the lane open with our 4X4 pickup to the road but snow plow drivers get there kicks by piling up a 4 foot brim across the drive enterance that turns to ice overnight.
I was ready for the 3.1/2 hour power outage and fired up my new 8KW generator, only lights around but we had Water,Heat, Refrigation and microwave.
AH the good life for last year it was 3.1/2 days
no water (Well) Heat ECT. So planning is a good thing . It has been a good day got MsDaisy over the mountain to have her new glasses adjusted ,pickup a new CPU fan as existing was making some very bad noise. So all in all a good day till the UPS guy about buried his self bringing a package (no 4x4 wheel drive 0 but we got it out. Note many spoys in Valley had over 3' snow on the flat.

Perhaps going over (perhaps rehashing, since i haven't read your entire diary) your views on Kabbalah would bring you back to the source of your inspiration here.

    Just my humble two shekels...

Love the red hen! Yeah, I've been here four years and I've been high and dry for a long time. Ah well, I still have my loyal readers. :-) Someday I'll get inspired.

    I LIKE the recipes anyway.

Did you mean the border on my page repeats the way it's supposed to, or does it start again in the middle of the page going up and down?

Well, off to bed with me.

Thanks for the thought. I think, may be twice the time of doing a thing.
