Habu Seen My Rainbirds?
Tue May 10 2011

I feel so virtuous right now.

No, I haven't baked any bread, but I'm thinking about it.

I finally got my corn planted. This year I'm trying a small stand of 'Ruby Queen'. I also transplanted some petunias and snapdragons that I started from seed. Say a little prayer for them. They look like they have delicate constitutions.

The rainbird sprinklers are going in the back yard. Nothing sounds like gardening season more than a rainbird doing its thing.

I have so many projects I want to work on right now my head is spinning, along with my wheels because I can't decide which one to pick up and work on first. I finished all my house and yard work and am now a free woman for the rest of the day.

There's a shawl, a square to go for a charity afghan, a new felted project I think I have worked out in my head that I want to start, and a bag I'm making from the weirdest 'fiber' I have ever worked with. Something that came in my raffle prize. It's made out of linen, and looks like a narrow strip of pale green paper. It's made by a company called 'Habu' in Japan. It is crazy expensive stuff, and at this moment I'm not sure who is crazier, those who make it, or those who buy.

You use another yarn with it. I'm using cotton. It's slow going, but I have learned two new things from this project. I'm half finished with it and will show it to you when I am done.

But in order to GET done, I need to step AWAY from the computer and pick up some needles.

Later!

Now I really feel like a slug. I'm sitting out on the deck with my little Acer, sipping iced tea and reading my Nook.

I'm finally done cleaning for the day and it is almost too late to start anything.
    The yarn sounds very interesting!
