Small Harvest

Ahhhhhh…...
That is the sound you can hear coming from every biological organism in our entire area.
Mr. P says we got 1 5/8 inch of rain yesterday and last night.
I went to sleep listening to rain beating on the roof.
It was glorious.
Today Lydia and the chicks are out foraging in the chicken pen. So far unmolested by the other hens. They have been able to see and hear them since they were hatched, so I guess all the 'new' has worn off and they have other things to do.
I dug quite a few potatoes the other day, which are now resting in a box in the back room… my [room of requirement] for Harry Potter fans. :-)
Today I trimmed all the old kale leaves and gave them to the chickens. I can't say 'hens' right now, because we don't know if we have a rooster among us or not. Time will tell.
Then I cut the fresh tender leaves from the kale for a pot of potato and kale soup I intend to make later today.
I also found a few crookneck and a nice bunch of zinnias too:
Life is good.
Life is good.

What a lovely sounding day. I am jealous with all the bounty you have been receiving from your garden.

So glad to read an update. Have been enjoying the posts about your chickens. Happy you got the rain you needed. Our growing season is long gone, we've had frost already. Take care.
