Bread Money

Today I was going to take over the world using my kitchen. I settled for making a small dent in what needed to be done.  My list of four things to cook, turned into two. So be it. Tomorrow is another day.

If there is one thing I know how to do in this world, the following would be your rather poorly done photo of it...

I have been making two loaf batches of bread for several weeks now. I decided that was silly and went for the full monty. This is as much bread as my mixer can handle in one batch. We're set for quite a while in the bread department. A few months ago I absolutely reached the end of my rope with the price of bread in the store. I rebelled. This is the result.

In other news, I finished another log cabin book bag. I'm having fun with this whole idea...

I'm hoping to get another one on the needles soon. But I have to finish up an experiment I'm working on right now. I'm about half finished with it and so far I think I'm on to something... I'll be sure to show you when it's finished.

Today was another sunny warm day in our neighborhood. Ben was taking advantage of the sun, while keeping his claim on the ability to go in and out of the door whenever he felt like it. Fiona kept her eye on him, the little control freak that she is.

And as  I always say, you know it's been a good day if you have baked bread...  So I guess this makes it a good day times four.

I'm right there with you on the price of bread. It's shameful what the grocery store charges for a loaf. I am addicted to bread of all kinds. I felt like a bread-a-holic during the height of the Adkins craze, hiding my 2 or 3 different kinds of bread until the very last minute at the check out so as not to garner sneers from all those scary Adkinsites.

Sadly, I don't bake well or I'd try to make my own. I even gave away one of those big KitchenAid stand mixers a couple of years ago (kicking myself for that in hindsight). Looking back on it, my mother didn't bake much when I was growing up and what she did bake was pretty iffy so I guess it's in the genes.

(keep eating bread like you do, cupcake, and it'll be in the jeans, alright)

Ummmm, where did () come from anyway and why is () obsessing over my rear end?????

When I was growing up my mom baked all of our bread for the week every week. That would have been at least four loaves plus a pan of dinner rolls and if we were really lucky a big batch of cinnamon rolls. Oh how I loved baking day. The house smelled so good when we would get home from school. So strong is that memory I can almost smell yours.

Those blocks really look good felted and I love how you attached the handles. Cute!

Your bread looks gorgeous as always. I hear you about the cost at the store. Outrageous. Love the new felted bag you did. I haven't picked up my knitting needles in ages.

I really must get in my supply of flour and yeast and get back to baking my own. Is there anything more delicious than the smell of fresh-baked bread?

If I stay well long enough....

Bless
