I've been knitting for the market, lo these many weeks.
It's been like my JOB. Granted, for me it's the best job in the world, however, I was starting to feel a little twinge of ...
resentment is too harsh a word. But a bit disconnected from my needles and yarn.
Then it dawned on me.
It was time to knit something for myself.
[Insert mental soundtrack of Barry Manilow singing…"This One's For You".]

I wanted to put all the things I have been doing as experiments lately in one bag, and to try and duplicate the usefulness of my Tom Bihn purse that I have been carrying for quite a while now. It's tough, it's utilitarian, it's fairly attractive, but it's not knitted by me.
I also thought it might be a good idea to be USING a representative of my own craft.
(Well DUH!)
I KNOW!
I'm not sure why I didn't think of this sooner, but there you have it. I'm a slow thinker, but quick to act when I DO stumble upon a good thought.
I have one more thing I want to add to this bag, but I am going to have to collect some objects, which will take time. Found objects to be exact. Until then, here's my new purse...
I included the things I really like about my other purse, a long handle and a short one, and a back pocket where I keep my notebook, and inside, there's a snap swivel for my keyring. I may knit some accessories for it in the days to come. But mostly, I'll be back to doing my market knitting.
But it sure was a good idea to knit for myself for a couple of days. I feel refreshed and inspired.
