Trouble On The Foster Front
Tue Sep 16 2008

Hmmm....

Pal does not play well with others.

He has lit into Sunny three times now, causing her to yelp.

Calls have been made.

Most likely Pal will have to go to a foster home with no other dogs for a while.

The director of Sheltie Rescue agrees, Sunny doesn't need this kind of aggravation.

I concur.

I hate to give up so quickly on a dog. It's not my style.

He is really pretty sweet around people. Just doesn't like other dogs.

Adamantly....

Rats.

I'm really sorry to hear that but it does sound like it's in Sunny's best interest and probably Pals, too. Some dogs simply won't tolerate others. That, I think, is an unfortunate side effect of never having been around a pack. Chance gets grumbly around other dogs but he tends to shrug it off soon enough and without incident.

Most of my dogs are like that. I think mine are like that because they don't want to share their cushy life here! LOL! But I know what your talking about and no it isn't fair to your permanent dog. I'm so sorry it isn't working out!

Too bad, but Sunny is the resident dog. I wonder if Pal has had a bad time from another dog. So he doesn't like any of them.

Too bad, but obviously he'll be happier being the "only" dog.

And I know you and Sunny tried.

    Bless

I'm sorry for Pal, but it's more important not to traumatize Sunny, especially because of the good work Sunny does for other shelties.

Rule one when bringing foster kids into a home is that it should not be upsetting or cause harm to children already living in the home. It is a good rule and seems wise to apply it here for both their sakes.
