I've had a lot of appointments lately, and in between them I have been out in the garden and the yard, fussing over little details here and there that harsh my mellow when surveying the scene.
Yesterday I mowed a path in the fields again. That was an adventure. Some spots needed going over three times. Now I need to walk on it often to make a real path. We'll see if I can accomplish that.
Today I went out in the garden to trim up grass, dig dandelions, and smooth out the soil in the raised beds to be ready for planting seeds. I have made seed tapes with carrots, zinnias, marigolds, and basil. I hope to plant all those things on Monday. I'll be soaking the green bean seeds over the weekend and if all goes well, they will get planted too.
The last thing I did before I came inside was to pick the very first of the volunteer sweet peas. I am so happy that they reseed themselves in the fall. It's nice to have flowers so early. The new ones I planted are only about an inch high right now.
I won't have to plant any new morning glories, they are popping up all over the garden, along with dill. I love volunteer plants!
Anyway, here are the first 'April in Paris' sweet peas of the year:
Their beauty is only outdone by their amazingly pleasant aroma. There's nothing like it. I so wish I could share THAT with you. 💗
