Sweet Peas
Thu Apr 07 2005

I have decided you can do quite a bit in one day provided you have two essential ingredients. . .

A good night's sleep going in, and a good night's sleep following.

Rain woke me up last night. It was just what we needed for the sprouting vegetable seeds in the garden. Peas are popping, chard is sprouting and I even saw a tomato seedling. I am trying a completely new approach to the tomato project this year. I did plant 6 plants very early on, and they are doing fine, but the for the rest of them I decided to plant the seeds directly in the ground under the tomato cages. We have such a long growing season, that I am hoping to get away with this very lazy method.
We shall see if I will rue my grasshopper ways later on.

Here are some pictures of my lovely sweet peas. I just picked this bouquet this morning. I wish I could send you their sweet fragrance too. But alas, we ARE dealing with virtual reality here aren't we?

I tried to grow sweet peas a few years ago. I had heard that they were easy and very gratifying to grow. Most of them did not sprout however and those that did never really took off. All I got for my efforts was a few straggly vines and not one single flower. *insert pout :( here*

Yours are beautiful. I may try again, but only if the seeds promise me they will grow. :)

Your Sweet Peas are beautiful. I actually bought some Sweet Pea seeds that I'm going to start inside then transplant outside. It didn't say on the package. Do they climb? I was just wondering if I need hubby to build me a trellis or not.
