i think i've got everybody covered, not quite sure why people are on my friends list but not being notified is all, can't quite understand the point but i'm sure all will become clear shortly
one good thing is that it was an effective way of cleaning up my notify list!

hmm, it seems you were automatically allowed to be notifed because it was set on 'automatically allow'. now that i've put it to 'restrict notify' then people won't be allowed automatically, but you are now on my friends list and i have asked to be on *your* notify list
phew, this could get confusing..

I neither like nor understand the new system but fingers crossed I have managed to get myself on your notify list. I feel bereft you're the only one left on mine! Sigh at least we have each other....

Well, you know I'm doing the EEEK! thing, too! One thing I've discovered that's nice, is now you actually know who's signed up. I used to look at the list and wonder who all those emails belonged to. Now I can tell. All both of them!
