Here's the last of the Alaska photos. I think I am about to overload my poor Hamipiks files!!
I mentioned the 'Prickly Rose' that grows wild everywhere we went, in and out of towns... Here's a nice little stand of them I found near the road:

As you drive by, they just jump out of the greenery and wave their little pink petals at you with all their might as if to say..."Have you heard the news? It's SUMMER! Yay!"
Of course we had to find a yarn store in the far north. And find we did.

We had fun pawing through the bins looking for something special. I wanted to buy some kind of local yarn and I found two skeins of hand dyed yarn that was made in the neighborhood. [The two on the left].

The other three were picked out by my friend. I'm knitting her a pair of Sandal Sox with them. I think they will be stunning when finished. She chose wisely.... :-)
And a few days later, I was taken to a shoe store where I bought a pair of shoes that suit me to a 't'.
[album 65561 Alaska Mary Janes.JPG]
Even though they were not Ruby Slippers, I clicked my heels together three times and flew home wearing them.
I love Alaska. And I hope this is only the first of many trips to the far north country. That place fits me like a glove. Or maybe more like a pair of plum colored mary jane's with rubber soles.
(I'd like to see you outrun those two bear cubs in those silly little shoes. What you REALLY needed to buy was a gun. A big gun. Bear cubs have cranky mothers. Or so I've heard.)
I only have one response to that.
Somebody cue the roses....
