I've been spending a lot of my time tending fires in Bruce these last few days. It's cold here, and drippy. I can't call it rain really. It's just this drippy, kind of lazy rain/snow mix that makes you want to call the supervisor and report it for slacking on the job.
(Oooo.... can I do it?? Please?)
Well, now that you have weighed in on the subject, I can see I must be out of line. I take it all back. Drippy is better than drought, so we'll take it.
(Spineless wonder.)
Crank.
Anyway, being indoors a lot has left me with a fair amount of free time when I'm not stoking fires or filling the woodbox. I'm spending it with pens and paper. I realized I'm sort of being a one trick pony lately. In life and here on Dear Diary. But what can I do? It's my reality right now.
I HAVE been working on a few new year's goals that I'm trying to formulate that I hope to share in the coming days. But for now, here's my latest project.
I decided I was going to write a full page with each of my pens, using each of my inks. A little snapshot of my day, while at the same time satisfying my desire to document how different inks look with different pens.
I made myself a chart to track my progress:
(You are scaring me.)
It's not hard to do.
I gave nicknames to all my pens. It's easier than writing their technical names on the chart.
It should be very colorful when it's finished.
And finally, I just wanted to share a close up of my favorite thing that some fountain pen inks do. It's called 'shading ' which just makes me happy. I can't tell you why.
Not all inks do this. Or they don't do it as noticeably as this Robert Oster "Honey Bee" ink.
So, this is what I'm doing lately, to keep cabin fever at bay.
(I guess it beats tanning racoon hides or some other such mountain girl activity. So go for it. At least it doesn't smell up the house.)
I'm so glad you approve.
(I wouldn't go so far as to say I approve. I'm just not that fond of racoons)
