I had a happy surprise on Wednesday.
A fellow knitter from the Sacramento area was up here in the north with her husband who was on business.
We met down at the ice cream shop and had a whirlwind, "get to know you" session over lunch.
Even though we both belong to the knitting guild, we had never met when I was living down there.
Isn't that funny how these things work?
She comes up fairly often, so we already have plans for the next trip!
I took her one of my watercolor cards, and she brought me LEMONS!
I may have to make lemon curd in honor of the occasion.
(You don't NEED an 'occasion' as an excuse to make lemon curd. You're batty about the stuff...)
I KNOW!

In other developments… I have been wanting to do something for quite some time and have been making exploratory trips up into the woods to find the "place". I want to have a little hide out up there where I can go and be alone, but somewhat comfy in the woods. After looking at many areas, today I finally found my hideout.
There is a neat pile of rocks that makes a natural hearth for a small fire. There's a maple tree that overhangs the area, and there are a lot of rocks around that Mr. P says he thinks are tailings from mining operations a long time ago. They are covered with moss. There was a stump of an old tree right in the middle of where I want to make my camp, so he took the chain saw and made short work of it. The rest of what I want to do is going to take some time and a lot of manual labor. I could use all the manual labor I can get. It keeps me centered and balanced. And as a bonus, it helps me work off lemon curd consumption.
I have dead limbs to cut, leaves to remove, rocks to arrange and I think I am going to plant a few things that deer don't care about. Oh, it just dawned on me. I'll also be needing to think up a name for this place. That may take some time. I'll have to sit with it for a while and see what comes to mind.
Anyway, I'm very happy about the whole thing. Sometimes I really do think I am half wild. . . but only half. The rest of me wants to domesticate everything I see.
(Classic split personality.)
Sounds like a colossal waste of time to me. Grubbing around in the forest.
Oh! Oh! Oh!
I want to see the hideout!
Let's make a fire!
And toast marshmallows!
Yipeeee!
You know, () could be wrong. I think there's more than just a split in my personality...
