The Queen Will See You Now
Tue Jun 25 2013

For the last two days it has be TRYING to rain down here by us. Just up on the mountain, within easy view, the rain falls. But here, it teases, mists, drips a drop or two, and drizzles for a few minutes, then stops. Eh. What are ya gonna do? Well, I decided to plant some broccoli, kale, and bunching onions in the failed lima bean bed, that's what. To be honest, there are four lima bean plants that survived. I'm not pulling them up. But how many lima beans can I expect from four plants I ask you? I really LIKE lima beans. I tried growing them last year in Sharon's garden with no luck. At this point, I'm feeling quite stubborn about it, and have decided that next year, I am going to start lima bean plants in four inch pots and get them hale and hardy and then poke them in the ground where they will perhaps have a better chance against whatever is attacking them. I'm also going to keep my eyes peeled for an old horse trough to plant high value and vulnerable plants in. I have almost a year to locate one. I'm putting the vibe out into the universe right now... Some of my sweet peas have finally started blooming… Pea Sun While I am grateful for these little blooms, I am wondering just how I can get these things to grow as well as the weeds do. I would love to have a jungle of sweet peas. Anyone know how to do that? I am all ears. I mean, what's not to like about these? Pink Pea   I forgot to take a picture of it, but I baked four loaves of whole wheat bread this afternoon. The house still smells of it. I feel like the Queen of Domesticity because I have a loaf on the counter, two in the freezer and one already shared with a neighbor. That's royalty right there. (If you are a queen, why can't you make the lima beans grow?) There's a shortage of pheasants. (You mean peasants don't you?) Those too. And rain, while we're complaining. (Turn on the sprinkler and buck up.) We have enough bucks in the yard, thank you very much. And I'm declaring this entry at an end. It seems to be sliding into incoherency. (I would describe it more as free falling.) I don't want to talk about skydiving. It brings up painful memories. (Sorry.) Thank you.

Nice to know I'm not the only person in the world who actually likes Lima beans. We seem to be somewhat of a rarity. Love sweet peas too, those and snapdragons were the first flowers I ever grew myself from seeds. I'm still in the 'wait...what?' phase of singleness where pretending to be human enough to communicate with most people is still beyond me so finding kind words left on my entries means even more than usual. Thank you. Maybe I should think about planting something pretty that will bloom in spring... give me something to look forward to.
