Sorcerer's Apprentice
Sun Dec 06 2009

Not long ago I watched a video on YouTube, the Encyclopedia Galactica, the repository of everything from the sublime to the ridiculous. I think this video falls on the sublime end of the scale.

It showed how to needle felt objects. Essentially sculpting with fibers.

I have a few small bags of Ben's undercoat that I brushed out of him, and some from Sierra too.

I decided to give it a go.

All I had learned from the video was the first step in making something which was to make a sort of oval shape. I kept working with my idea and as I did, I felt like a magician. I could not believe what was happening in my hands. Really. It was the strangest feeling. Fiber alchemy. I hope it wasn't just beginner's luck, because I want to do this again....

I suppose we should call him Benjamin Bunny since he was made mostly with Ben's dog hair, and he is, well, a bunny.

Abracadabra!

I'm as astonished as anyone. And I think I am in deep trouble... again.  ;-)

That is totally AWESOME!!!!! How wonderful to be able to create a bunny out of the stuff that normally makes up the bulk of dust bunnies!

Absolutely fantastic! I wish you had them commercially available as one of my best friends does rabbit rescue and it would be a wonderful Christmas or birthday gift for her ;)
