What You Get For Nothing
Tue Jul 18 2006

I scoured the whole yard for stray rocks this morning. Very early, to beat the heat.

I searched in nooks and crannies, under lily plants and along fences, under the hydrangia, around the peach tree, by the faucet and in old planters. I gathered them all together and made this:

Now, I know it's not..... coordinated, nor does it have any kind of theme or anything yet, but the greatest thing about it is that so far it is FREE. Haven't spent a penny. I'm rather smug about that part.
I will be on the lookout for a fountain in my travels. Something half price would be nice wouldnit?

The gardening hardscape building inspector came by and signed my final papers. I admit openly that I bribed her. [She's a pushover for one of those green chew things that clean her teeth.]

Of course those air conditioning tubes, wires, and thingys are quite distracting. I have it in my head next time I go to Beverly's Craft store to buy something to camouflage them.... Wait a minute. Wait just a dog gone minute....BRB.

(Is it just me or is that theme song from "Jeopardy" wafting on the breeze? You know, just between you and me, while she's out in the back yard taking pictures...... again, I think I need a vacation. Anyone have a little vacant cabin I could stay in for a few months?
Till she regains her sani.... I mean until the weather is nicer here?
Anyone? Anyone? Shhhhh, she's coming back..... )

I forgot I had this draped on something in the front porch and it had fallen down into the corner anyway. So that's my solution for now. I still plan to find something a little more.... I don't know, like a fake garland of ivy maybe. I'll keep my eyes open.

But in the meantime, I'm happy with my Scounger's Corner. Scotswoman's Rock Garden. Recycler's Retreat....

(Cheapskate's Nightmare.....)

Hey, YOU want to go spend fifty dollars at Home Depot? Shall we put it on YOUR card?

(Never mind.)

I thought so.

    THANK YOU!!!

Now I know what I'm going to do with all those rocks I've been gathering in my back yard!! Pure genius.

BTW, yes, I know, I still have the RRTJ, and I feel guilty as hell, but I'm seriously having trouble with what I want to put in it. Performance anxiety, most likely. But I haven't forgotten about it, or misplaced it. The MINUTE inspiration strikes, I will get it finished. I promise it won't be much longer. :/

Now I just have to get me a back yard...

Do you freecycle? That could be a place to get a water fountain for free...

    Good job.

I really like it. Just goes to show that you don't need new and expensive to make a pleasant spot.

I wonder what I could do with all the rocks in my yard. I have a lot of quarts laying around. Some the size of my fist.

    See what you did. :o).

    Blessings,
    Paula
