I'm sort of embarrassed that so many days have gone by since I posted here.
Mea Culpa.
Yesterday was a momentous day around here.
K. the carpenter extrodinaire, finished his portion of the construction.
For this I am truly grateful.
Though I still have much to do. Fencing, finishing, fussing and nest box creation.
But, for today, I am savoring the completion of the major portion of this job.
I love how the window turned out!
K. suggested we put the wooden frame inside, out of the weather. It sounded like a good idea, since the paint is what is holding it together! :-)
I have touchup painting to do on the shutters.
This is the door that covers the ventilation window. It needs a latch. I will install that myself.
I need a more sturdy and permanent way to prop open the door for the window. I'm mulling over solutions. I also need to dig out and level a place for those steps.
I need to make a little ramp for the chicken door.
And buy a piece of plywood to slide under the roost to act as the 'poop board'.
Not to mention a serious game of 'pick up sticks' needs to commence pretty soon...
But the weather is fine, the worker is willing, and the end is in sight.
Thank you T. for your wonderful wood. Thank you A. for delivering my roofing one serendipitous day at the lumber yard. Thank you Mr. P. for permission to build. And thank you K. for your awesome [and much sturdier] rendition of the original idea:
I hope the hens will enjoy their home.
Because, my friends, whether they will realize it or not, they will be surrounded by Awesome.
