Today I tried [again] to paint one of the very loose kinds of watery studies that I have seen all over Pinterest. I am rarely impressed with my renditions of these kinds of paintings.
For instance, here's a video of what I'm talking about:

I hope that plays for you... [ignore the sign up screen and just click on the background picture, that seems to work]
It's amazing to me that people do this kind of thing freehand and spontaneous. I'm in Awe.
But, every now and then I give it a try myself. I find 'spontaneity' nigh on impossible.
Here's my attempt today:

I really do need to let go of the idea of ending up with a piece of art. With this technique, I should look at the whole thing as a practice piece. Like doodling with watercolor. Random studies.
I drew all this stuff before painting it because I couldn't face leaping off into the watery void with no compass.
One of these days, I'm going to set sail with no pool noodle if you take my meaning.
(Wow. That is one clumsy metaphor. Stunningly so, even for you.)
Hey, I'm under the influence of a disappointing foray into watercolorland today. Give me a break.
(I cannot figure out why you are so fragile. Grow a backbone for pity's sake.)
Have you no fear of failure?
(What's that?)
Never mind...... never mind.
