The wind is trying VERY diligently to skitter everyone's empty trash containers all the way to the north end of the street. I just rescued ours and put them in the backyard. Right now there is no rain, but boy last night it was POURING down. Woke us up once.
I am composing this in Bloggar and hoping that our internet connection is restored soon. I just got summarily dumped a few minutes ago, and right in the middle of a nice conversation with some FlyLady members. I hope they don't think me rude to have left so abruptly.
Today I completed the porch and entryway zone that was the focus this week. Everything is neat, and sparkling clean. I even scrubbed the grout between the ceramic tiles. Griffen helped by sitting on the wet spots until they dried, though he was not impressed by the smell of Clorox Soft Scrub cleanser all that much.
I know there are some skeptics out there, but if you want to try just ONE thing from the FlyLady site, try the 27 Fling Boogie. Take 5 minutes and a shopping bag and go through the house and throw out 27 things. Now a THING can be something as simple as a scrap of paper, a magazine, a toothpick on the kitchen counter, and as in my case today, the wrappers off a pack of opened clothespins, and a flattened thumbtack I found in a drawer. Count them all! It is very . . . . liberating.
Though there was one thing in the bag that I was very sad to see go. My little owl bell that I loved so much, took a fall from its outdoor hanging place and hit the stone patio below hard enough to put a crack in it. I was wondering why it didn't sound like its usual self. . . . I was very upset. I cut off the decorative beads that I had put on the wires that held it up, and threw it out. Sigh.
BUT! At Hub Man's suggestion, I went on ebay and lo and behold, I found something VERY similar. I am placing a bid on it later today. I won't be able to bid on Saturday, so I'll have to put my highest price on there and hope for the best.
I will miss my little owl though. It has given me many many years of pleasure. And if I win the one on ebay, I will hang it with an I hook instead of a cup hook, so it won't be blown off onto the stones..... Live and learn.
Today is Friday by me, and I have decided on Fridays, I am going to write down one thing that I am thankful for. Today I am thankful for the cheerful motivation I have found on the FlyLady site. And for the resulting cleaned up areas of my home. I feel like a better steward of what I have been given.
Okay, I'm going to see if I can get this on line now. Wish me luck!
