Tomato Abuse?
Wed Feb 23 2005

Have been gadding about with Pragmatist today. We started at the yarn shop and ended at Wal-Mart. From the sublime to the pedestrian. We shopped till we dropped and have been here knitting and crocheting ever since. I bought some divine periwinkle yarn, and a coordinating varigated color to make the bag in my pattern book. I hope I can do this yarn justice. It's beautiful stuff.

In a fit of true and utter madness, we brought home six baby tomato plants. I poked them in the ground and told them to go for it. I know it's early, impossibly so, but there they were in the garden department, bold as you please. So I made a 3.00 gamble. We shall see if I hit the jackpot or go bust. Call me crazy. Join the crowd!

We did take a short break to make waffles and feed the man of the house. Said waffles were declared practically perfect in every way, eaten with peach preserves, apple butter and homemade berry jam. . . though not all at the same time mind you.

It was a good day.

Indeed it was a good day, and I'm ready for bed. Just took a whiff of alberterol, and getting the vaporizer ready.

Oh, yes, and you need to give Griffen credit for his help in the tomato patch.

Each square of waffle I ate had a different topping. As you say...practically perfect in every way.

    Shalom

What a delightful way to spend the day. I can't wait to see the fruits of your labor.

Planting tomatoes in February does indeed seem risky, but given the nature of this winter/spring (or is it spring/winter), anything is possible. :)

You are making my mouth water. And I can't wait to see your finished products!
I crochet just a few kinds of stitches and would love to learn more but I can't find anyone to teach me. I've tried learning from a book but I get confused. (Pesky little neurons)
You create a cozy little scene with your description. Sounds nice.
    Take care and God Bless....Parett

Sounds like a wonderful day. You are just bound to get me knitting again aren't you?
Hmmmm. It has been a long time. I like crochet better as it goes so much faster..
do you know how to do the 2 colors at once.. One on each side??
My daughter made me an afghan which is blue on one side and black on the other..each side partly shows through.. You know.. sort of like a shadow? And she says you do them (both yarn colors) together. I have studied this thing and just can NOT figure it out.. Seems like a single cachet stitch, but with the opposite color in the background. It is beautiful!
