Watery Tea Time

Quite some time ago, as I was walking down the tea and coffee aisle at the grocery store, minding my own business, something caught my eye, and I do mean caught. I was drawn to them like an irresistible force of nature.

I had to take a photo of them on the spot. Because I knew, whenever my watercolor dam broke, I would be trying my hand at copying one of them. I came home and printed the photo and stuck it in my art cabinet. I didn't buy any of the tea, but I'm grateful to the artist who designed these packages.

Who knows why certain patterns attract us? This is deceptively simple, but very evocative and arresting to me.

I'm glad I finally got to complete the circle of thought that probably started four or five months ago! I had a really good time trying to match the colors of the original. That's one of the nicest things about watercolor for me. I love the almost infinite number of colors you can cook up.

It's good to be back with my paints and brushes.
