A Blessing And A Curse
Fri May 06 2011

Still pining for my Bloggar software. Alas, I'm typing html into the entry window. This annoys mildly.

(You are SUCH a whiner.)

(That isn't true either, you have lots of comments, and I'm sure you are going to share them with us today. Isn't that special?)

Boy did YOU get up on the wrong side of the dictionary today!

The iMac and I have had some serious screen time this week as I have been editing some older works with a project in mind. I think I'm rather getting the hang of 'Pages', the word processor in an Apple computer.

Last night at our knitting guild we had our annual Trash to Treasure event. We all donate yarn and other knitting things we don't really want or need anymore and then have a silent auction on rather large lots of yarn. I won lot #11, a table full of various kinds of yarns in the green family. There were also magazines and some knitting needles and what not that came with it.

It was a rather large garbage bag full of yarn! Yikes!

Then to add to the excitement, I won a raffle prize [I think there were 8 or 9 of them altogether]. That was a knitting project tote, very nice, filled with books, yarn and three kits with patterns. I am now awash in yarn!

I have been on a yarn diet for almost a year, and this haul filled up my last two empty bins and I am now filled with anxiety because I don't LIKE having a big stash. It takes on a life of its own and begins sending past due project notices in my psychic mailbox and this keeps me up at night.

Literally.

I didn't get to sleep until 2:30AM.

Ridiculous!

So, I have an appointment with the blankie and the couch later on this afternoon.

In the meantime, I leave you with a photo of a few more teeny tiny watercolors I made not long ago.

Excuse me while I go troll Ravelry for patterns. I hear yarn grumbling in the other room.

Have a nice weekend!

I find my yarn/fabric stash oddly comforting........my hedge against hard times. I think I may have a squirrel in my family tree somewhere.

I'm with InStitches, but then I live in Podunk without yarn or fabric shops so I have a good excuse. :o)

I am impressed with your yarn acquisition. I'm also curious how long it will take you to go through all of it.

Hope you had a nice nap.

I've been meaning to ask about the great Oracle and keep forgetting. Good to see the return of such a grand person.

    My question.
World matters are troubling me and I'm just wondering if you would consider running for President in 2012?

As I was washing a pot this afternoon a mystery confronted me. It is something I have often contemplated and have no answer.

Why is it that when a pot boils over (such as in the cooking of rice) that it alway manages to boil over at the handle? Really, there is all this other surface area devoid of obstacles; why, oh why does the food gunk always choose to overflow at the handle where it is hardest to clean it up?

    Dear Oracle of Questionable Origin,

Am I EVER going to successfully housebreak these Chihuahua puppies? The constant "accidents" are *really* tarting to get to me. Not that I love my fur babies any less, but... ew, AND ick!

Uhhhh, erm... that's *Starting,* not tarting.

:-S Color me fuchsia-- for embarrassment.

I would ask the Oracle how much longer we have to put up with these %$@# aftershocks, but I think the answer would just depress me...
