Mixed Fruit And Nuts
Tue Jul 26 2005

My head is swimming with Harry Potter this morning. I have something a little over 100 pages to go. I have to say that the plot in this book is easier to follow than the last one. Hopefully I will get it done today. The silly book itself is quite heavy. I end up finding creative ways to prop it up so I don't have to hold it. But this usually involves very bad posture on my part. It's been exhausting work let me tell you!

Yesterday I went in search of a fruit bowl for my kitchen table. Instead, I found a ceramic bread bowl. Big crisis for me. I wasn't prepared to buy TWO bowls, so I bought an inexpensive basket for the fruit, and got the bread bowl. I'm so cheap. Even though I was at Ross Dress For Less where they seem to have an astonishing amount of inventory at the moment, and the prices are fabulous, I was not psychologically prepared for a change in spending plans.
I'm a shopping weenie.

Now I am seriously thinking about baking some bread, even in this heat, just to see the dough rise in this bowl....

Innit perrrty?

(Obviously it does not take much to amuse me. Though this is one of my most valuable qualities.)

It looks like it was a good buy, despite not being what you intentionally set out for. Sometimes those are my favorite purchases!

There is something comforting about bread dough rising in the bowl; especially when it is a lovely ceramic bowl. My spirit so rebels these days against what passes for a mixing bowl in so many stores; no more plastic please.

Go forth and bake.....I'll bet cookie dough would look great in it too. :)

bread is the essence of life especially as being brought up as a catholic the bread represents the holy sacrifice of the mass and the celebration because it represents salvation
I celebrated the jewish sabbath with some friends once and it was beautiful I love the way thescriptures are chanted and I admire the ancient hebrew text that writes through all of time and during the rejoicing I remember breaking bread and passing it from hand to hand in a reminder that we sustain each others lives

so baking bread is sacred and all encompasing
