Zone What?
Fri Apr 20 2007

It's cool and cloudy here this morning. My tomato plants are huddled up in their pots outside consulting their maps trying to confirm to themselves that indeed they ARE in zone 9 and what the heck is wrong with the freaking weather anyway?

I was just about to put them out in the raised beds the other day, but saw there was a storm coming and decided against it. I hear it is supposed to be in the 80's next week. I'm sure THAT is more what they have in mind.

Though other plants don't seem to mind a bit. In fact they are loving the cool weather just fine:

The adorable Sweet Williams have run rampant. And I let them.

The indefatigable German Butterball Potatoes emerging.

Me, I always enjoy a cloudy day. Gives the outdoors a ceiling. Makes it feel more. . . intimate. Cozy. Indoorsy.

Sunny and I did a bike loop out by the old abandoned picnic area yesterday. She was so busy trotting along she completely missed the two hen turkeys that snuck around the back of a tree so as not to be seen. We have a boatload of wild turkeys around here it seems like.

I love my new bicycle. It is just dandy for me. There is a bike path that goes around one end of the airport. I may have to check it out one day. I could ride all the way over to the Subway place and get a tuna sandwich for lunch. It's about oh, I would say three miles from here. I don't think Sunny would want to run that far though. I will have to go alone on that adventure.

Well, I'm off to stir up a batch of yogurt. Though my lemon curd stash is getting dangerously low. I forgot to buy lemons yesterday too. Dang. The last ones I bought were 69 cents each!!! I thought that was kinda pricey. But oh that lemon curd!
It has become an essential staple of my kitchen. If our Clemantine oranges do good this year, maybe I will try my hand at orange curd. The tree bloomed up a storm, but I am waiting to see if it has set any fruit.

Have a good weekend everyone...

    *sigh*

You have a yard. You have a garden. You have a safe place to walk or ride your bicycle.

    *sigh*

Even your vegetables look like flowers.

    Shalom

Thank you very much for the information! I'm sure I'm up for the task of lemon curd. Really I am. It isn't like baking so I can do it. Really.

*stumbles off wondering if I should just buy it in the jar and save myself the misery of a kitchen fire*

P.S. I want a hen *whines*. If I had a hen my home would run like clock work, or something like clock work or, or, or.......something.

Never mind. A hen would probably fly the coop after about 15 minutes in my company *sigh*

Where does one obtain a hen, anyway??? Are they commercially available??? Can I go to Lowe's and get one or do I have to order up one through you?
