Invasion of the Short People
Fri Oct 31 2008

We are armed with a bowl, er, vat
of candy for the wandering hoards we expect tonight.

I especially like the candy I found at Wal-Mart that look like eyeballs

Hub Man and I have made a little secret stash of the chocolate though...

Kids. They don't care about chocolate do they?

Nah.

Chocolate is for grownups.

One year our resident skydiver dressed up in his parachute gear complete with helmet. I gotta tell you, the kids weren't too keen on it. They don't expect the poor meshugenahs they get candy from to play anything but a straight sucker. So he got quite a few nervous looks from the shorter ghosts and goblins. But none of them were nervous enough to refuse the candy.

Nope.

They were made of sterner stuff than that. Free candy makes even the timid among the short folk brave.

I think I'm going to go try one of those eyeball candies...

    I'm stocked and ready, too.
Yep, I even stashed a few chocolates myself. Peanut butter cups to be exact.
    YUM!!
    Happy Halloween!

So what Do eyeballs taste like, anyway??

Ray used to dress up as Frankenstein but he stopped that a few years ago after reducing a 3 year old to hysterics (the mask was green and puffy and not scary at all but try explaining that to a kid who climbed her mother like a monkey climbs a tree) *sigh*

Better watch as if the short people find out you hide the good stuff they will Return!!!!

As a LAD we did Soap windows and made a window ratchet from a wooden thread spool on a sucker stick. you would wrap the thread on spool and place on a window . Man what a racket it made with a quick pull. Ashamed to say as we grew older outhouses and garabge cans were found in many places they did not belong.

I have only added glowing earrings to my ordinary clothes for my halloween get up. ALL the little girls love them! They are those lightstick bracelet circles attached to earrings! FUN! I put the other lightsticks they came with on the boys' clothes for visibility, and kept the earrings for myself ;-)

My dog has them on her collar, too...but she won't go out...too scared or too dumb (I think the latter)...she has to greet the door (well, she has to trip me each time I go to the door, first), but she's a shih tzu and we have the top screen out of the wooden door, so she sees nothing, and we don't open the door, only reach through the window where the screen goes to hand out candy. So unless she goes outside, she can't even see the kids she's so excited about! And she won't go outside....foolish beastie.

We didn't have anyone show up last night, not one. Luckily I only bought $6 worth of candy. Unluckily it was mostly stuff I like. I'm smart that way sometimes.

Where did you find eyeball candy? Wal-Mart? Did you save one for me?

    Bless

This year I gave out the candy by small handfuls to ensure I did not have any leftover. That's the last thing my hubby and I need! :-)
