July In The Garden

The Fairy Forest several weeks ago:

has morphed into something more like a Troll Wood.

These are plants that came up from the bird seed of last winter.

And another view:

I rather like them growing there in the grass. Though I was much more prepared to deal with a few Fairies than I am with Trolls. But now that I think about it, Sunny and Ben could probably keep any Trolls at bay. They have quite a lot of machismo between them.

I am getting ready to dig my potatoes. Here they are before harvest. They look like... well, they look awful. But that's normal. That's what potatoes DO.

They are coming out of the ground in a day or so. My buried treasure.

And last, the Tomato Insurance plants. They are a variety called 'Bush Goliath'.
And very tasty too.....

And just think, all this bounty in my back yard without one iota of government intervention.

(The mind boggles. Truly amazing.)

Ewwww...
I don't LIKE tomatoes.

Don't worry dear, one day you WILL.

How do you know?

Trust me.

I just know.

    What a bounty!

Sometimes it's a little scary when you start talking to your self. :o)

I thought for years that I didn't like tomatoes but it turns out that I was just conditioned not to eat them at a very young age because every time I did my lips would swell up and I'd get a rash across my face. After I found that out I tried eating one and absolutely adored it with no ill effects (must have grown out of the allergy). I love going out to the garden with a salt shaker and helping myself to the little grape tomatoes (I don't use any pesticides or chemicals out there so I'm not afraid to eat straight off of the vine).

Love what became of the fairy forest. Another amazing treasure right in your own backyard! The tomatoes are beautidful and looking forward to seeing your potatoes. I bnrought the kids a bag full of Fremnch fingerlings I had let sprout for this purpose to put into our shared garden. They ignored them as far as I know. Boohoo!

That is a very ambitious list. Five lifetimes does not seem quite sufficient. Linguistics alone would probably take two. ;)

By the way, just what does a Graphologist do?

In addition to all that bounty, there's that deeply shaded corner of the yard

    Your tomatoes look like Perfection!
