Salmon With Lemon
Mon Jun 18 2012

The house smells like kool aid. Kiwi Strawberry, Mango Peach, and Cherry combined. I don't know if it's legal to combine those flavors, but I did it. This is what you get when you throw a hank of yarn into that brew... I have no idea what this looks like on your monitor, but in real life it's salmon pink. Very nice. I got the yarn at the local second hand store very reasonably and decided I was allowed to play with it. I also have a lime green one to go with it. I'm not sure what I'm making yet, but I think a little girl might like it. What's a salmon? I don't think I like salmon. I like princess pink. You should use the pink lemonade one. Nobody drinks salmon kool aid, that's icky! Everyone's a critic. I cannot take credit or blame for the color of this yarn. It came from Brown Sheep that way…lemon yellow. At first I was disappointed with how this one turned out. Bulky yarn is a little unpredictable in the felting process. But after I got it stretched out and molded and finished up, I decided it was okay. Next time, I'll watch it more closely in the washer. Okay, off I go. Today is food preparation day. The plan? Baked Oatmeal, whole wheat bread, macaroni salad, and brussels sprouts a la Cupcake. (Seems heavy on the starches to me.) Dude. (What?) As my cousin Sandy used to say, "Go eat a bug."

I have not tried dying yarn yet, but it looks like fun with all sorts of color potential. Who knew Kool Aid had such potential? The yellow from Brown Sheep is pretty too.....reminds me of Autumn Sunshine. And I love the charms you are adding to your bags now...... designer pizzaz!

I'm curious about the dying process using Cool-Aid. How color-fast is the result? Can you felt the yarn without losing depth of color? Do you have to treat the in any special way after coloring it?
