Now that I've had a little time to catch up to myself, I thought it was time to make a small formal announcement.
And I do mean small.
I asked my son B. if he had a name in mind for the chick we fetched for Lydia while he was here visiting and in fact he DID have one.
He said for some reason "Elizabeth" came to mind.
So. Here my friends is Miss Elizabeth, who will most likely be known around the homestead as 'Miss Lizzy' since we rarely stand on ceremony here in the nitty gritty of the country.
It hardly seems possible that this little mite:
Has changed so much in such a short period of time.
It was in fact warm enough the other evening when she and Lydia were settling in for the night, that Miss Lizzy decided that 'near was close enough' and did not see the need to do all that much snuggling.
Lydia could not be happier. She seems at her best now that she has a chick to fuss over.
I appreciate how well she does the job, because if you are trying to take care of chicks yourself without a hen, it is one full time job. Just ask S. who has done it several times.
Lizzy, according to the feed store sign under which she lived a day or two, is a Golden Sex Link which I have learned is a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Rhode Island White chicken. One might conclude that such a bird would actually be Pink Sex Link... but that sounds a little kinky don't you think?
(Oh my lord. That was a really terrible pun. You can do better than that.)
You will have to bear with me while I ease back into the whole humor thing okay?
(Very well. I'll humor you.)
See now, wasn't that easy?
(I can out pun you with one - ) - tied behind my back.)
I don't doubt it.
Let the games begin.
