So the dogs were all antsy and bored so I relented and took them for a walk.
It's been a long time since they went to the fields. I've been worried about ticks.
But they needed a good run.
The grass was tall. Ben had to hop up in the air to see where he was going. That was pretty cute to watch. Sierra just plodded along right behind me. Sunny had no problems. Not much slows her down.
After a while Sierra got lost. I had to go back and lead her out of the jungle. The rains and the cool Spring have been good to the growth of the grasses. I kept checking my legs for ticks.
I didn't find any.
Seems that isn't the REAL danger out there right now....
Ummm, this would be the danger:

Poor Ben was beside himself on the walk home trying to do something about this mess. He was not happy about the situation AT ALL. He kept stopping abruptly to chew on this offending mess on his legs.
I think these are from Filaree plants. Nasty little things. I spent about 45 minutes brushing them out of Ben. They were everywhere. Sometimes I'm not too bright. I should have known better.
I guess all romps will have to be in the boring kindergarten playground for a long time. I forgot how unforgiving the fields are this time of year. What a waste of wide open spaces....
(Yeah, there's a wide open space between your ears. What were you THINKING?)
I know, I know.
Don't rub it in.
(By the way, I think I see a tick on your shoulder. Oh look, isn't that cute? He's waving!)
Great. Just great.
