On Ravelry I joined a swap. The first one I have ever participated in. I was paired with someone from New York. We were to exchange a gift of a blank journal and some yarn and whatever other goodies we wanted to add in up to a certain dollar amount. I sent my package off to my swap mate and it got to her on Christmas day. Last night as I was driving down our street, headed out to my knitting guild meeting I saw the UPS truck headed to our house. Sure enough, there was something for me when I got home.
Here is my swap loot all the way from New York City:

Speaking of writing, I have a confession to make... After following a link on Flock. What's Flock? Oh here ya go...
Flock Web Browser
It is an awesome browser where you can keep track of all your things on one page (almost) with tabs and rss feed reader and media tab, and a clipboard to grab stuff from the web so you don't have to print it out and and .... well, as I said, it's awesome. Anyway, I followed a link and found myself over at WordPress browsing through the blogs over there.
I spent half an hour looking, reading and contemplating opening a blog over there. I don't know why. It was a crazy thought. I could easily become mentally unbalanced if I fragmented my psyche any further. Especially since the oh so recent appearance of ....

She just popped into the picture yesterday like... well not magic, but something else equally mysterious. It was just ... BAM, the Inner Life Fairy decided I needed someone to balance things out a bit.
Anyhoo, all this semi-illicit blog infidelity caused me to think a little bit about this whole 'thing we do'. I wonder what percentage of the population writes a blog? Over at WordPress there are THOUSANDS. It's kinda scary. I'll never forget when I first decided I might like to start a blog. The only place I knew of at the time was Blogger. I'm glad I found DD instead. Blogger was very intimidating. Back then a large percentage of the blogs were news and politics related and contained linkfests to all kinds of news articles. It seemed so cerebral and intense.
Though I have been accused of being both of those things by people in my life over the years, I know me well enough to know that 'weird'.... okay let's soften that a bit.... 'quirky' is closer to the real me. Though the fact that there are so many alter egos floating around here gives ammunition to those who might defend the 'weird' label vigorously.
Anyway, I want you to know, I did not succumb to temptation [and possible madness] by opening up a WordPress blog.

There's a happy thought!
(OMG. I feel nauseous.)
[album 65561 GoofyHen2.JPG] I think she's rather cute and all...

But can she dust the furniture?
