To Clone or Not to clone, That is the question
Here I am at college and have some free time. *YAY* Went to yahoo and read some news. I always read the news. So anyways, I come across this thing where a UK company wants to apply to clone. NOT to make duplicate humans but to use embroyotic stem cells to do such things as cure diabetis and have our body duplicate something we're missing. *ie. missing arm or lack of producing a certain chemical in the body* Ofcourse, this is brining up all kinds of "ethical" questions.

At first, there would seem to be no question that it is wrong. Using unborn babies for scientific research. Why use them when they could be living people is the inital thought. *what if you were the one saved by the ban?* Also, isn't that like playing God or something. So, why is there even a freaking debate. Well....

It appears that reproductive cloning is banned. There will be no duplicate babies like I said. When you read about the whole process, you understand that there probaly isn't anything wrong. They use left-over embroys are acquired from invetro fertilization. So, these babies would've died otherwise anyways; as they are dying right now. Wouldn't the most humane thing to do is put it to good use and help human kind with available compatiable transplants and cures to diseases? So from a scientific point of view it seems ok afterall, though how would you justify this to GOD.

I mean, lets say you support the case like I apprantly do. But, does that mean I would want to be the one doing it and having to answer for it? NO! So, then shouldn't we ban because we wouldn't want our society that God likely doesn't approve of. I think this begs a bigger question. Should morals become laws? Is it society's job to prevent people from potentially sinning? I don't think that's the duty of laws. That would take away free will. As long it isn't hurting a living person, it should be ok. Even if objectionable. Our forefathers knew this and that is why they seperated church and state. History shows that when the two are mixed, nothing good comes out and makes people resent morality and GOD himself.

Would love to see what you got to say about it. So, write a comment. Don't be scared, it doesn't bite. And then after all that, you'll have told me how lost I am and then you feel alright because you let this dork know what is really going on.

the problem with forcing religious/moral laws upon a society is that everyone has their own personal believes about right and wrong and there are dozens and dozens of religions out there.
ofcourse the majority can force their morals upon the rest of a civilization and we could call it democracy.
Only separation of church and state doesn't allow this when it comes to religion. It is possible with moral issues like the death penalty and cloning, but these issues can have strong ties with someone's personal belief and or religion too.
So it is all cind of dubious. Perhaps everything should be allowed as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
Excluding the things that may hurt people that do it themselves, like gambling and drugs.

I was perusing diaries this morning and stumbled across yours, I hope you don?t mind me commenting, but this entry caught my attention. Could it be that I like controversial debate? LOL

?Should morals become laws? Is it society's job to prevent people from potentially sinning? I don't think that's the duty of laws. That would take away free will?

Free will.....morality....church and state.....all words that grasp the attention of Americans.

I have to ask this question... if it is not societies job to hold people accountable to their actions based on morality, and to take away free will of people, then why should we hold murder?s and rapist?s accountable to their actions? After all it is the free will of them to commit such actions. It is ?morally? wrong, it is ?sinning? according to God. Governing the land has always been about ?morals? on someone?s behalf. Morals are what defines right from wrong, but everyone lives by a different set of morals. Those who murder, think what they are doing is right, should we allow them to live by that without consequence? Okay, lets take a subject that does not inflict pain upon another human being. Child pornography. By society that is wrong, but to those who do it, it is not wrong to them. They are not hurting anyone by looking, yet it is by society standards a crime. Should we then persecute this pornographer?

When you begin to take a more liberal viewpoint on life and dismiss a moral objective, that is when society runs free doing what feels good, or just what ever the heck they want to do. Look at the timeline of US history and how society has changed since God became absent from humanity by way of government and unbelievers. Crimes are up, society has overall become tacky and humanity has gone down the drain. People don?t even trust anyone anymore, we all live in a state of fear. The majority of humanity believes in a high power, they live by a higher moral code. Over time those select few that have been offended make the most noise to remove church from state and in essence have turned the way of America from a God bound country in to a PC war about morality and ?freedom of speech? People take what our forefathers created with moral intention and twist words to make it say what they want to say. Then one mans opinion is legal and suddenly the idea of the nation dismisses God and people run around doing what ever the hell they want to do because it is ok or ?Politically correct?

Church and State separate? The way of the nation has always been based on God.

Did you know that as you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view....it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

Did you know that as you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors
have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

Did you know that as you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

Did you know that there are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

Did you know James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement: "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."

Did you know Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said: "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ".

Did you know every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher,
whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Did you know Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies?

Did you know Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law an oligarchy? the rule of few over many.

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said: "Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

Church and state have never been separate, and personally I do not think they should be separate. This nation was based on God and upheld morality to this nation, this morality is what made this nation strong and great. With God on the side of this nation is how we have become powerful and abundant. Why would people want to take that away? Because the few are offended?

Your topic was about cloning and research and I have written and entry here in your paragraph comment. Can you tell I am fire up?! LOL Cloning is not moral, it is another debate among humanity. Though I can understand from the perspective from science and the possibilities is can bring to mankind, I also see that it is another step against what is morally right and wrong, another step towards testing the boundaries of God. I cannot support the killing of babies for whatever reasons. It does not make me close minded, because I have heard both sides of arguments without judgment or pretenses and formed my own opinion. I feel it is morally wrong, therefore I cannot condone the process. But for what ever reasons it is not mine to judge, frankly all we can do is make up our minds to follow which ever path and face the music in the end based on what decisions were made by oneself. Frankly I chose the way of morality and God rather than what the majority speaks.

Hope you don?t feel like I have cluttered your comment box...LOL

Have a great day!

P.S. How do you get your diary to fade out like that from page to page? Can you share the code with me?
