After unloading some of the groceries and giving her some baby food and making sure she has diapers and stuff, I say, "So, how's Rick"? My mom is suspicious. "Why do ask? Did he (Lorenzo) say something" I lie and say, "Oh no, I'm just curious" Skepticism fills her voice. "You never ask about him, he must'a told you something. Anyways, don't say anything to Ricky but he had to quit because he was doing something with the blackberries or something." (He was a cell phone sales man at Costco) She continues, "I had to go up there and sign something and bail him out" Not sure what she's talking about, I ask "You signed something? What it say? Ohmygod, you know that if you gotta sign something that I should be present" (knowing how she has just signed things without looking in the past) Not really looking to go into details, she shifts subjects, "Well I dunno what it was all I know is he had to quit or they were gonna fire him." Confused, I ask, "But is it that they fired him or that he quit." She says, "Well, I dunno but I think he quit, so that way he could get another job" I roll my eyes. She again insists, "Don't say I told you anything ok" I agree She takes off shortly thereafter.
The other mini-drama going on is with Wilbur (lil bro's dad) Apparently, his girlfriend stole $17,000 from their daughter's trust fund and supposedly gambled it away. What added insult to injury was the fact that when he found out, she didn't apologize or anything; simply stated it as something that happened. Michelle suspects she just hid it somewhere. Who knows, but my reaction was "Why does she have a trust fund. Where is Alex's (my lil bro's) trust fund? The kid is a freakin spittin' image of the guy." He really does look like him too. Wilbur again gets fleeced. Last time, he was sending money to him mother and his other son in Nicaragua (the guy's got kid's all over the place) and I guess the son took all the money and spent it on God knows what. All the while, he really hasn't got Alex anything except a computer when he was living with him a couple years back. (Remember that didn't work out as Alex ran away and hated how Wilbur was always out dating and strict) I still feel sad for Alex because Alex was so looking for his father to act like a father. The guy still acts like he's in his early 20s (he's like 37). Last time he came over during Christmas time, he went out to the club and slept with some girl at a motel. So yea....
Now I'm curious to talk to my older brother; get him to give me the details. I also gonna talk to Wilbur, she why the hell he'd let that woman have such unmitigated access to the trust fund. Besides that, not too much else going on.
Me and Michelle watched part of the English patient and didn't care for it and turned it off. We watch the movie Gran Turino instead and its Ok. I thought there'd be more intrigue but it ended interesting enough for a moderate recommend. Looked at the credit card bill today and cringed a bit. Spent a bit more on snacks and stuff we probaly didn't need. But no, we never let the bill come due as we pay the entire balance when it comes due. Ugh, I'm reticent about even putting any concern about my bills as gawd knows who will show up unauthenticated and tell me that I shouldn't spend excessively. I think of it as doing my part to get us out the recession ;) If you work for Huggies, I'm sure lil tinoz is single-handedly saving your job. The kid uses a new diaper almost as often as some people go out for a cigarette.
Oh, one more thing. Michelle's daddo calls past 11PM and basically tells me he's coming over. He is hard to talk to (with his broken English) so I try to pass the phone to Michelle and she refuses to talk to him. (she was sleeping at the time) Still, I basically force-finish the conversation and hang up. The guy is about as much fun talking to as a police interrogator with a spotlight in your face. This guy doesn't know the meaning of small talk. He knows what he wants to say and ask. "You woakin? Feanish scool? Baby ok? Michelle pease. (atleast he says please) I've yet to hear a pleasant tone of voice when Michelle talks to him. He likes to ask questions but is conveniently absent when it comes to ensuring things are going ok. Another one of those people who'll criticize you when you're low on money and looking for a place but doesn't help you. Thank God we found our own place and have our own money. When we were living in motels all those years back, and he had money, nothing. He's yet to ask for pics or ask anything specifically about the baby besides if he's ok. And that whole crap about offering to buy us furniture than take it back because he didn't feel like it afterall means we don't like him. Last time was hell when they came and was crap when we went over there. I am not looking forward to them (the whole family is coming I think) being here; though I can't refuse to let him see his first grandchild....
